Hero of the Soviet Union Kpt. Viktor Orlov spent most of his flying career in the famous 42 IAP of Maj. Shinkarenko, flying various Yak-9Ts.
In September 1943 he was awarded the Gold Star HSU with 18+4 confirmed victories and reassigned to the 113 GIAP.
A Guards emblem was located on both sides of the engine cowling.

Orlov was killed on 9 December 1943shortly after receiving this machine, trying to rescue a group of Pe-2 bombers cornered by more than fifty German fighters in the Kiev area.

Notes from Col. Gibbon.

This revised version of the Yak 9 model, now includes a proper distance model with working prop, and correct shadow file. I've also revampped the model with wires, internal cockpit detail, tail, wing tips, and pilot animation. The cockpit included, has a new gunsight added. There are a number of changes to all the texture files, which make them only compatable with this model, so if you want to reskin this model, please use the textures included as a guide.

Over and out.
